Chocolate Lotus Pillow and Play with Colors

I love the combination of brown and orange. It looks very tasty to me. Like sweet oranges combined with dark chocolate. Here is my latest pillow cover design. The flower in the center of each square motif reminds me of Lotus. That’s why I called this pillow “Chocolate Lotus”. Its pattern is already available for purchase in my Etsy, Ravelry and Craftsy shops.

Surface Crochet Makes a Difference

The definition "surface crochet" tells much about itself. It involves the stitches which are made through ready crochet piece, on its surface. There are different stitches used in surface crochet and I should honestly admit I am not an expert in it. I use only surface slip stitches to decorate my projects and to add some special touch to them. It is very easy and if you have never tried it before – you definitely should. In this post I will show you how to decorate a coaster with surface slip stitches (with a free pattern of the coaster!!). The decoration will be made in round but you can of course use surface slip stitches to make colorful accents in stripes and rows. By the way surface crochet can be successfully used to color your blanket’s edges. Or even hide them (if they don’t look neat).

Brazilian Yarn Style and My Lace Adventure

Have you heard anything about Brazilian yarns? I didn’t know anything about them before I got a fantastic kit of yarns from Circulo. The manufactor contacted me and asked to test their yarns and give my opinion. I was delighted by this proposal and the parcel has finally arrived to Brno. From Brazil!

Large Crochet Squares or Second Life of Dandelion Mandala

You have probably noticed already that I became totally addicted to making mandalas. I just love to design them. In one of the previous posts I wrote about the Colouring Mandala as a special meditation technique. And though I don’t practice meditation in its special way, I still feel the power of mandalas while designing and crocheting them. It is calming and relaxing indeed. And this is what I really need in my life – to have some time for myself and feel peaceful and quiet.

Macaron Pin Cushion – Free Pattern!

A nice pin cushion is a must have for every needle-yarns-fabric crafter. I have been using a stuffed leg (left from my never finished crocheted bear) as a pin cushion for a very long time. But one day I thought – enough! I need to design something nice, and looking more like a cushion! And I created this small pin cushion. Its pattern is available as a free download.
