Blue Feather Sweater – finished!

Ta-daaaah!!! My first ever designed (and knitted!) sweater is here. I am rarely satisfied with my work but today I should say I am proud of myself. When I was only thinking about the sweater idea, everything was so unclear, and I was not sure I can actually handle such a project. But it turned out exactly the same way I was drawing it inside my head…

I called this sweater “A Blue Feather”. At first I wanted to play with the word “rhythm” and to name it after the yarn it is made of (Alpaca Rhythm and Mohair Rhythm by Scheepjes – you can read my review on these yarns HERE). But when it was finished I felt like naming it a feather. Why? Because it is unbelievably light – it weights only 148g! And it is so airy that it can be probably pulled through a ring. I knitted with two strands of alpaca on the front and back to achieve a special textural effect of fabric with alternation of dense and airy parts. But if the whole sweater was one-stranded – it would be even more transparent and light.

Luckily we chose a sunny day to take pictures. I may look relaxed but the truth is it was very cold on that day. People were already wearing winter coats. I am very sensitive to the cold but the sweater is surprisingly warm. Really. It is light, soft, silky and warm. I didn’t even need to play in front of the camera.

As you’ve already seen at the sneak peeks HERE I crocheted a very narrow part along the neck opening. And later I decorated it with beads of the sea color. I would say this sweater looks festive itself, but beads add even more charm to it. Make it look so womanly…

You can knit the same sweater for yourself. Next week I will release a free pattern. I really hope this sweater will be “doable” for knit super beginners. Its shape is very simple. There are no increases or decreases. Only two basic stitches are used and you should know how to cast on and cast off. That’s it :) And you can make the sweater of any size you wish.
