A Sea Story: 13 modern mosaic crochet patterns

About the book 

I’ve been crocheting and knitting ever since I can remember. And now, my passion has turned into something bigger. Something that brings inspiration and joy, not only to me but also to many people around the world who follow my work. 

A Sea Story book is about the sea and friendship. And because my connection to Malmö (Sweden) is so strong, it will come as no surprise that I decided to take the photographs for this book here, at the beach line in the Ribersborg quarter of the city. 

Divided into several sections, the book features 13 modern designs for home decorations, accessories, blankets and garments. And hopefully, the mosaic stitch patterns presented here will inspire you to use them in other projects, too. 

All patterns use an inset mosaic technique with no ends to weave in. Although sometimes mosaic designs look complicated, they are easy to make. Only basic crochet stitches are used throughout: chain, single and double crochet, mosaic double crochet (US terminology, a Stitch Guide is given in the book). 

The book was inspired by the sea, and all projects use soothing and calm shades of Scheepjes yarns. Although every pattern was designed and written with a specific yarn in mind, the mosaic stitch patterns can be easily adapted for the width, height and different yarn weights and hook sizes. The explanations about how to translate them into different kinds of the projects are given in the Tips&Techniques chapter, together with stitch guide and additional information about gauge and blocking. 

The patterns come with written row by row (or round by round) instructions together with mosaic charts, where all mosaic double crochet stitches are marked with X. Detailed information about how to follow the charts is also given in the book. 

A Sea Story book was printed in the Czech Republic on a premium matt paper.

This book is a very personal project. The small seed of an idea was planted seven years ago when I just started designing crochet. And over the years it has grown into something big.
