I don't have special patterns for left handed people... I believe written instructions can be followed by everyone? I am not even sure how a special pattern for left-handed would look.
I am a left handed crocheter and for the most part written directions always work. When watching videos sometimes can be confusing and if it is especially difficult I sometimes watch the video in a mirror.
I am left handed and crochet and knit right handed. It is a trick of the mind. In other words, for some people, just don't think of it as right or left. Think of it as the right will hold the hook and the left will manage the thread for crochet. It doesn't have to be difficult. If you are strictly left handed, this may not work. I find that sometimes, you just change how you hold the hook and that is enough of a change that you are able to be comfortable doing it that way. It took me a while, but just one or two small projects to get comfortable. Good Luck!
Hi I am also a left handed crocheter - with some patterns you just have to read them and adjust and rewrite the stitch count (as for patterns like sophies garden etc) as it is importants where the stitch sometimes moves to when starting in diff. colours etc
Your designs are works of art. I have purchased several of your patterns and I’m just working up the courage to tackle them. You create such magic with your designs. Thank you x Louise x
thank you very much for your kind words. Please, don't be afraid to try the patterns. I know they look complicated but they are not so difficult to make. And you have tons of progress pictures to help you :)
I too am left handed. I have learned to read the crochet patterns carefully. And I have learned that being left handed means that I rotate my crochet the other direction than a right handed would. This doesn’t change the pattern, it’s simply the other way around and I conclude with the same forms and functions. The design is the same....clockwise or counterclockwise. Happy crocheting...either way.❤️☺️
Left-handed instructions are mostly useful for visual tutorials or teaching. Written patterns should not need to be any different.
That said; not all right-handed teaches can teach a lefty! I know, I took classes once at the national convention & got totally tangled up because the teachers couldn't envision "backwards" crocheting.
Hello! My name is Tatsiana and Lilla Björn means "little bear" in Swedish. I live in the Czech Republic... But I love cold and grey sea, fresh windy air, and I like to crochet little bears.

Have the lefty sit across from you to teach them to crochet. I haven't tried this, but my mom-in-law says that it is how she taught years ago.
ReplyDeleteStunning patterns. I'd love to use them but I can't find them! I guess I'll keep looking for others. the links given aren't appropriate for me.
